R K Shetty First Indian MDRT Member to Serve on Prestigious Management Council

Mumbai, Jul 4: Radhakrishna (RK) Shetty, LUTCF, is the 2009–2010 divisional vice-president of the Million Dollar Round Table’s (MDRT) Membership Communications Division.  In MDRT’s 82-year history, Shetty is the first MDRT member from India to serve as a divisional vice-president (DVP).

As DVP he will be a member of MDRT’s 15-person management council which provides leadership to the Round Table’s 39 committees / task forces and sets a strong course for the organization’s future. 



In his role as DVP, Shetty is responsible for leading and overseeing the activities of a network of nearly 400 members who are appointed to promote MDRT membership around the world. Shetty will be required to help ensure that MDRT can best assess the needs of the members, identify opportunities for collaboration with industry partners, and develop a plan to communicate the benefits of MDRT membership on a global scale.

Shetty is a 12-year Round Table member with three ‘Court of the Table’ and five ‘Top of the Table’ honours besides being a member or chair on a total of 11 MDRT committees/task forces.  “Serving as the Membership Communications divisional vice-president is my opportunity to give back to this wonderful organization that has given me so much,” said Shetty. 

A Mangalorean, Shetty is a leading life insurance and well-known income tax practitioner in the metro.  He earned a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) designation from The American College.

He has qualified for the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) exclusive Corporate Club of Agents and has been a member of the Chairman’s Club for Agents since 2000.   In addition, Shetty was a speaker and among the 300 MDRT members from India, who attended the 2009 MDRT Annual Meeting held recently at Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
