There is a train already running between Yeshwantpur and Cannanore i.e. 6527 Yeshwantpur - Cannanore Exp. with a running time of around 13 Hrs (Leaving Yeshwantpur at 8.00 P.M. and reaching Cannanore at 9.00 A.M.).

The train 6518 Yeshwantpur to Mangalore is now taking around 13 Hrs Leaving around 8.35 p.m. and reaching Mangalore at 9.30 a.m.. If this has to go to Cannanore it will take atleast another 4 Hrs. That means it will take 17 Hrs to reach Cannanore.

No prudent person would like to travel to Cannanore to reach after 17 Hrs. Instead they can Make 6527 to run daily. Please donot extend Mangalore Bangalore Train.

What a wonderful idea of stopping all the trains passing through Mangalore. Mr.Nalin you are the representative of the perople of Dakshina Kannada in Parliament. You are public servant. Dont issue any statements that makes news everyday. If the public servant creates problem to the public travelling from long distances for one reason or the other, "God please save our County" Mr.Naveen there are lot of methods to get the things done. First exhaust those measures.

There is a greater need for a train service from Kundapur to Bangalore since coastal Karnataka is still under the process of development. I don''t think it is essential at all to extend it to Kannur when there are existing daily services to Ernakulum and Trivandrum touching Kannur as well as Kasargod.

Railway is national property. Let them extend it anywhere but we have to protect our quotas/berths of Mangalore. Let the Railways attach more coaches to the train if it extending to Kannur. Why cant we demand to extend the train up to Karwar/Goa instead of Kannur Or we can fight for one more Day Train up to Karwar/Goa which is helpfull to the development of Coastal Belt. We should not waste time in this matter. All political parties should unite and fight aslo the public should support for the fight.

I hope daijiworld can rally around and support the locals, just like they tilted the scales in the our favour when they extensively covered the airport issue. the commercial establishments - the bus services have absolutely no shame in furthering their cause - this is nothing but a collosion between the railway authorities and the bus lobby. The yeshwantpur express should be between mangalore to bangalore, and we need more trains, ideally 2 day trains at least.

Problem with the extension of this train till Kannur is not only reduction in the number of seats but also we will not be able to get tatkal tickets, because tatkal ticket holder is allowed to board the train either from starting point or maximum two stations. Also one has to pay beginning to end point price for tatkal ticket. So we''ll have to pay more and then travel all the way to Kanhangad to board the train. Instead of extending this train to Kannur why not they run Train 6526 Island Express via Mangalore?

If you all dont know, let me inform you that the first movement to demand international airport at mangalore was raised and started by keralites, and not by mangaloreans. Later it got the support of all. People from Kerala came to mangalore and were picketing and squatting infront of then domestic airport. There is no harm in extending train upto kannur, but we can ask for one more train that starts and terminate at Mangalore. Kerala people know how to get the job done. We are good in blame game. Thats very unfortunate.

I totally agree with MP Nalin Kumar for the injustice done by extending the train line to Kannur. Mangalore should be the starting point as well as ending point for people travelling by Train. Earlier when the Airport was to be extended/built in Mangalore BJP put all sorts of obstacle''s, even during other projects Mangalore has been left behind and it was just for the sake of few political minded selfish people. Today we see Kannur ahead of Mangalore in all ways. Mangalorians wake-up.

I agree with you Mr. NIRANJANA SHETTY, SOORINJE/DAMMAM, people may not be aware what (Late) Mr. Pai has done for this region. Being MP of this region Mr. Nalin Kumar has to raise the issue in the parliament in a civilised manner, rather than inconveniencing the travellers.

We have seen earlier protests, in which it has become very difficult for the leaders like LKA, MMJ, UB to control the crowd and ended up in disaster. We do not want to see anymore disasters that bring a bad name for Mangalore. Nalin Kumar is not a street goon anymore, he is a MP now, and people have given him the mandate to speak for them in the parliament and expect him to do so.

Extending the train towards Kundapur is a great idea, but we want you to do it in a civilized manner and you will certainly get support and appreciation as well. Mr. Sadananda Gowda is not interested in extending the train to kundapur?

It is very funny, what''s happening,when someone is trying to do something, he gets criticized, leave party politics away, and work for the betterment of the districts, people are questioning the 12 years of BJP, what has the congress done, In udupi muncipality what congress couldn''t do in 20 years, the BJP has done in 5 years, so lets not point fingers at every single issue, if Mr. Kumar is doing a job, that''s benefical for all so be it, support him or atleast keep quite but dont shout at him and be a fool, lets make the twin district what it was earlier not drag on the new issue, BJP and the rest it will lead us no where, that is why Mangalore is what it was ten years ago, Congress had failed in the state in every respect, people gave them years and years of rule, nothing improved and now little over a year people are after the flesh, common guys lets grow up, we had influential congress leaders from our twin districts, they made a fool of themselves, except the late Mr. Pai, so why are we now crying, people like our oscaranna are not in the picture when the developement comes.

Mangalore has a lot of trains originating here but all of them benefit people going to the south.Lets face it. Our elected representatives are growling now that the bangalore train has been extended to Kannur. Our district has elected BJP MPs since over 12 years. Have they ever lobbied hard for any benifits for our district. See Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Even though they do not elect congress, they lobby hard and reap the benifits.

He is young M.P. for the first time and give him some time to come to the terms of politics. It is true, if the train extended until Kannur, we the Mangaloreans will suffer a lot. It is very difficult to get a seat now to go and come back to Bangalore when ever we require. We have to book in advance for our journey. Mr. Nalin it is good step all the best!

Start a public signature campaign and not a party campaign. No body at the center is interested in listening to BJP lobby. They have done their own what they think it’s good, but it’s your duty to work professionally meeting right ministers and working towards smoother travel arrangements & developments.
