Mangalore, Jul 6: Students of the city’s St Aloysius College elected their new council for the year 2009-10, recently.
Darryl Gerald D’Souza (Deru), a student of third year BBM was elected president with Jeeth Stallon Lobo of second year BCom as the secretary and Daphny Stella D’Souza of third year BCom as joint secretary.
Darryl thanked his fellow students and said, “I am ready to serve the students and happy to help them”. He added that he was proud to be president of the students’ council of a great college like St Aloysius.
“After the election results were declared the students celebrated their joy in a simple way and this should be a model for others”, said Darryl.
Elections were held in accordance with the system prevalent in the college over the years.

Congratulations Darryl, very happy to see BBM take the crown this year...this would surely make RAMESH KAMATH proud
Yes,I remember the same here .
Dear Laxmidas, according to my sweet memories of my college days in St. Agnes College I don''t remember that we gals at the college campus where waiting for the SAC election procession. But we used to have fun with our own college election within the campus and not on the roads as you people used to do. Be aware if you write any more comments on St.Agnes gals.
Congratulations to deru, jeeth and daphny... v r always there with u.....
It Reminds me of those days when ''president were elected by students not selected by principal''....thats makes college alive..Congratulation
congratulation..... I miss u..SAC
Way to go deru!
@Deepak Machado, Belman/Mangalore: Thanks a lot Deepak.. That''s my pic... http://www.daijiworld.com/images1/praj_030709_aloy17.jpg I contested for the secretary post :) Trying my best to serve the college as a council member :) Class Representative II BCA ''A'' Student Council (2008- )
its quite different these days i guess !!!!!when we were in college it used to be totally sloshed drunk boys in pouring rain with all the energy to drain in blinding rain,.. candidates making claims, but dare not enter principals cabin after winning elections... president would shit bricks. This i have seen over the period of 5 years ,,, year on year we ed an samples.. wow the best bit would the president candidate would claim that he has support from oscar fernandes, and some Ivan dsouza etc...."aeyga oscar fernandes''na support undu ge" what a bloopper..No doubt St Aloysius college is great college with a great legacy but it is just may remain an legacy... new president needs to fight for better faculty... better learning programmes if you see few of the faculty’s accross dept minus UGC paid are badly paid,,, it''s not that St aloysius doesnt have funds they do have ,,,, we need to fight for that....its easy to close the college as a sympathy for some student got hit in some unknown college... please also fight for better quality education dont enter the class if any substandard faculty is teaching ,ask for change... trust me its really in bad shape if you stand in an global scenario few of the people will beat St Aloysius students hallow...... most of the students in aloysius have their parents abroad especially Gulf countries.. and they have plans to move abroad.. but gulf is no more a lucrative market ,, meanwhile very few jobs and in future it is going to be no jobs at all... so all the NRI kids may have to look for job in india... and india is not a joke its very competitive unlike Gulf... so gulfy kids needs to get to ground reality and pull up their socks. and start fighting for better education standards and better facilities..... I wish the president and his office bearers all the best.
Cogratulations to all of you.It reminded my college days in 1984, when it was a boys college.Really those were one of the best days of my life.miss you SAC

Congratulations to SAC elected new Council leaders. While looking at the election pictures, my nostalgic memory goes back to my college days in SAC campus. I think election in SAC at the late 80''s were the best with full of fun & action. We had new slogans, tunes & steps every day & it continued till we marched our victory procession to St.Agnes college, were all the Agnes gals were waiting eagerly. Election days were one of the best days in our college time/campus.
cool dude......... D''Souza rocks...
Congratulations Darryl, Jeeth and Daphny. I was a student of St. Aloysius College 1977 B.Sc.batch. It was only a boys college then. Looking at the pics of the college after 32 years and going down the memory lane, it gives me immence pleasure. I am reminded of the systematic proceedures adopted during those days. We used to have a winning procession too, with our fancy clothes on and enjoying the company of friends.Hope all of you will serve the college in a better way and be an example for others. All the best to Darryl, Jeeth and Daphny.
