Panaji: GPCC thanks Railway Minister for choosing Margao Station for Upgradation

Panaji, Jul 10: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) general secretary Altinho Gomes, Dr Ulhas Parab,  vice chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Board of the state and GPCC secretary Savio D'Souza had requested railway minister Mamata Banerjee, both orally and in writing, to include one of the railway stations in Goa, in the list of railway stations that are proposed to be developed into world class stations. They had pointed out, that Goa is a world class tourist destination and hence, it deserves to be included in the said list, when they met Banerjee soon after the presentation of the railway budget in the Lok Sabha.

All the members of parliament from Goa had also backed this demand. Through a statement issued on Thursday July 9, the railway minister declared that Margao railway station has been included in the list of 50 stations proposed to be developed to world class level. Altinho gomes, Dr Ulhas Prarab and Savio D'Souza have expressed their gratefulness and thanked Banerjee for taking cognizance of their request and taking a favourable decision.
