D K Shivakaumar's case is 'deep rooted conspiracy' - Enforcement Directorate

New Delhi, Sep 21 (IANS): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday told a Delhi Court that the money laundering case involving D K Shivakumar is a "deep rooted conspiracy"

"The argument given for bail is that he has deep roots in the society, but I would say the case has much more deep rooted conspiracy," Additional Solicitor or General KM Natraj representing ED told Special CBI Judge Kumar Kuhar.

The court was hearing the arguments on the bail plea filed by the Karnataka Congress leader.

The agency also said that Shivakumar remained non cooperative and evasive and did not answer even the basic questions.

"Being an influential and powerful person, he is in the whole likelihood to hamper the investigation," the ED told the court.

Concluding his arguments, the ASG said, "My respectful submission while concluding the arguments is that it is not a fit case for grant of bail. This is a case where the accused amassed huge wealth without a source. The person was not disclosing the source,A when the foundation collapses, the structure has to fall."

Opposing the prosecution's claims, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, "How is it possible that you have only charged IT Act against me, which is not even a scheduled offence, and I am not prima facie entitled to bail? This is not a case of conviction."

"There are only 20 active accounts then where is the figure of 317 accounts coming from?," Singhvi questioned.

"Show me the 21st account and I. would sit down," he added.

The court after hearing arguments from both the sides has kept the matter for further directions post lunch.

It is no doubt that BJP Govt using CBI, ED as personal revenge-seeking depts. The Modi government’s selective pursuit of justice against corruption is a witch-hunt.

If their is honesty in serving the nation, why 7 politicians related to the BJP with corruption charge CBI and ED won’t raid?
    1. B.S. Yediyurappa: He has become Karnataka’s chief minister again despite being the very image of corruption in Karnataka. Accused in land and mining scams, with diaries recovered from his possession showing hefty amounts being paid to top BJP leaders, judges and advocates, Yediyurappa today stands tall, acquitted of most of the charges.
    2. Reddy brothers of Bellary: Before the Karnataka elections in 2018, the CBI quickly concluded its investigations into mining scams worth Rs 16,500 crore against the Bellary brothers without pursuing the cases to their logical ends. For such audacious plundering of India’s wealth, the Modi government let the Bellary brothers go scot-free because the BJP needs them to win A forest service officer who was the whistleblower, in this case, was sacked by the Modi government.
    3. Himanta Biswa Sarma: The BJP had waged a full campaign, even releasing a booklet, accusing Sarma of being the “key suspect” in the water supply scam in Guwahati. The scam is known as the Louis Berger case because of the involvement of the American construction management company.
    4. Shivraj Singh Chouhan: The CBI in 2017 gave then MP CM a clean chit in the Vyapam scam. Would Chouhan have gotten away had he been a member of the Congress?
    5. Mukul Roy: Roy joined the party soon after the ED had summoned him in the Narada ‘sting’ case.
    6. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’: He is India’s minister for human resource development. As Uttarakhand chief minister, he was at the center of 2 big scams: one regarding the land and the other regarding hydro-electric projects.
    7. Narayan Rane: Accused of money laundering & land scams.
Why deep-rooted conspiracy is not sensed by ED?
