Panaji, Jul 16: The Nationalist congress party (NCP) leaders in Goa on Thursday, July 16 said that all those who deserted the party en-mass are "welcome back".

"Whoever has left are welcome back. There are many who have shown interest in returning," NCP Goa unit's acting president Dr Carmo Pegado told reporters.

Dr Pegado was talking to reporters after attending core committee meeting which had legislators Jose Philip D'Souza and Fransisco Pacheco participating in it.

The state unit had faced a revolt last month after its then state unit president Dr Wilfred D'Souza along with 30-odd executive committee members left the party.

Dr Pegado today said that some leaders who had left then are willing to come back.

He said that the party has strong base in the state and ongoing membership will further augment its strength.

"We are not competing with anyone. We just want to emerge as a strong political party," Pegado said.
