Mangaluru: Metal wire mesh fencing proposed for Panemangalore, Ullal bridges

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Oct 3: The local administration and the police are facing lot of problems with more number of people attempting suicide from Panemangalore and Ullal bridges increased in the recent past.

Of late, over six persons have lost their lives at these two bridges. Some of the victims came from other districts too. The administrations also are faced with the need to employ their resources, energy and time towards attempts to rescue those who jump into River Netravati and also in searching for their mortal remains besides attending to legal requirements.

The police have arranged for police patrolling on both ends of the bridges and also sent a proposal to National Highways Authority of India to erect wire mesh fencing for both the bridges, it is learnt. The number of people choosing these two spots to commit suicide has increased after Cafe Coffee Day founder, Siddhartha, jumped from Ullal bridge on July 29 this year. The police have recommended a ten-foot high wire fencing on both sides of two bridges across River Netravati at Ullal.

National Highways Authority sources say that as fencing expenses would be additional, the proposal for fencing has been forwarded to the consultant engineer for checking the feasibility of erecting the fences and to prepare estimate. Based on his report, further action would be initiated, the sources added.

Instead of mesh, govt should appoint professional swimmers. As soon as anybody jumps off the bridge, swimmers can rescue them.

The person behind this " mesh"shall be rewarded with highest civilian award of the country. Pls spend money for the infrastructure (specially pond filled roads/National hi way . incomplete roads ete) already provided to save the human life who wants to livelihood.
May be some contractors are forcing to implement the task so that every one will be benefited with loot.
Dear National Highways Authority personnel, if you are so concern about human life, pls complete the incomplete roads under your authority and repair the ponds of the all road starting from Kundapura to Mangalore and Mangalore to Puttur , which I witness. Take a survey of the deaths occurred due to patch hole on the roads.
Those want to die, they may do it with thousands other method. Power supply to home is too dangerous, that mean stop the supply? What a ideology. So close all high raise building window. Make concrete wall on both aside rivers and sea beach.

Such safety measures may help to curtail suicide deaths; however, suicide tendency cannot be cured by any outward safety measures. Persons who entertain suicide attempts are controlled by Devil's thoughts and when such people show any signs of depression, friends, relatives or social organizations must come to his help and offer some counselling. Reasons are many but solution is not suicide.

Wire mesh should be put around the brains of those who have come up with this idea.....
Those who want to 'give up' life will do no matter what....
Try and improve the environment around you....
    Don't Loot.
    Have patience ...
    Love everyone around you...without expectations...
    Try counselling methods,,,,
( The above for the so called law makers.... But will they?.... I doubt...All are used to 'commission' business ..Is it not?)

This is certainly Hilarious !!!!!! A distraught, human, out of desperation, with NIL, family, friends, support, will commit suicide, with whatever means available....... The victim needs, immediate help..... counseling and moral assistance, is vital to save the individual life !!!!

Use the confiscated loot of DKS and other ministers to take up the noble cause of putting Wire Mesh on the bridges. No need to use tax payers money as these MLA's have robbed crores of Rs. from people and govt. treasury.

It looks like another foolish step taken by the concerned. As we know all ,a acute or chronic depressive illness subject or even some drugs too cause suicidal tendencies. To avoid suicide by jumping from a bridge , installation of metal mesh is not a solution.
I think , this is the priimary symptom of some underlying pathology in our society. We all must find out the cause and treat the disease completely.
Here this act of metal mesh is treating the disease synptomatically, one fine day it will flare up somewhere.
We must work as a visionary.

It's better to give electric connections to the mesh fencing, so that we can recover the dead body near the mesh only . We can save lot of time in searching the dead body.
