Pune singer to set Guinness record - Singing for 13 hrs in 122 languages

Pune, Oct 3: Pune-based singer Manjushree Oak is prepared to set a new Guinness World Record. She will perform non-stop for 13 hours in 122 languages.

Oak will perform songs from different genres - Devotional, folk, lavni and ghazals. The languages will include spoken, tribal and sub-languages. The songs will be socially driven incorporating views on the environment and education for the girl child.

Pt Hridaynath Mangeshkar, veteran musician and Oak's guru was the one who made the announcement. Oak will perform in the show 'Amrutvaani' from 10.30 am to late evening 11.30 pm.

In response to her choice of attempting this feat, Oak stated that it was her way to celebrate India's diversity.

Some of the languages Oak will perform in are; Marathi, Urdu, the Varhadi dialect, Angika, Tangsa, Ladakhi, Punjabi, Nicobarese, Tamil, Pali and Sanskrit.

The performance will be attended by several renowned musicians and singers to evaluate her skills.
