Mumbai, Jul 28: Metro-based Sri Krishna Vittal Foundation has organized a week-long programme of Harikathas, titled ‘ Harikata Saptotsav’ here, as part of its cultural initiatives. ‘Harikatha Saptotsav’ is being organized in association with the local branch of Pejavar Mutt, Udupi and Poornaprajna Vidyapeeta Foundation, here.
Vasudev Udupa inaugurated the Saptotsav at Sri Pejavar Mutt auditorium, located at Prabhat Colony, Santacruz (East), here on Sunday July 26 morning. Vidwan Kairabettu Vishwanath Bhat rendered the ‘Harikatha’, a form of narrating mythological episodes with the help of songs and narration in an interesting manner, embedding in between, comic interludes and moral advice.
Vidwan Vishwanath Bhat, while addressing the audience, said that the devotees can rejuvenate their faith and also strive to get spiritual bliss by listening to Harikathas, during the holy month of ‘Shravana’ that is especially dedicated to attain spiritual bliss since ancient times.
It is during the ‘Shravana Masa’ that devotees abstain from non-vegetarian foods and spend time in the devotional contemplation of the Lord through acts like attending Harikatha sessions, he explained.
Ramadas Upadhyaya, Jaya C Suvarna, Chandrashekar Palettady, Surendra Kumar Hegde, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Sudhir R L Shetty, Ratna Acharya, M S Rao, Suguna Kamalaksha Kamath and Sudhir Kumar Shetty, participated as guests.
Foundation president S K Upadhyaya, Suma V Bhat Kairabettu, Vishwanath Shetty Kalattoor, Gopal S Putran, Sunanda Upadhyaya, Avinash Shastry, Harry R Sequeira, Shankar Poojary, Harish Shetty, Ashok Pakkala and others were present at the dais.
The Harikata sessions are being held at Pejavar Mutt here from 5.30 pm to 8.00 pm every day from Sunday July 27 to Sunday August 2, with the blessings of Pejavar Swamiji, informed Sri Krishna Vittal Foundation trustee Suma V Bhat Kairabettu.
