Kasargod, Oct 16: A bullet tanker loaded with LPG overturned at Adkathbail on national highway 66 in the early hours of Wednesday October 16. The accident happened on the highway between Kasargod and Mangaluru near Kasargod town.
The incident sent shivers down the spines of local residents as gas leakage would have given rise to an accident with catastrophic repercussions. The police hurriedly evacuated people residing in the locality. Fire and rescue service units reached the spot and began to spray water on the fallen vehicle to avoid any combustion from happening.
As a result, the police arranged to send vehicles on alternative routes from different points before they entered the town so that the vehicles skipped the accident spot. The police suspect gas leak from the fallen tanker and the company concerned is expected to depute its officials and other equipment to see that the gas is safely transferred to another tanker and the overturned tanker is evacuated from the spot at the earliest.
