Rakhi Sawant Finally Gets Life Partner in Reality TV Show

IANS

Mumbai, Aug 2: India's first televised 'swayamvar' concluded here late Sunday with item girl Rakhi Sawant choosing Toronto-based Elesh Parujanwala as her life partner in a unique reality TV show.

In NDTV Imagine's "Rakhi ka Swayamvar", Rakhi made the final choice from the three finalists -- from the original list of 16 contestants in 26 episodes. The other two finalists were young aspirant Manas Katyal and businessman Chhitiz Jain, both from New Delhi.

"I have been watching Elesh from day one. On and off the camera, he has been the same and has really taken care of me. He is everything I was looking for and I am glad to have found him on the Swayamvar. The swayamvar means finding a jeevan saathi (life partner) and I have found Elesh.

"Today is our engagement. I am ready to get married now, but we need to understand each other better off camera. We will soon get married in front of all of you in keeping with all our traditions," Rakhi said after announcing her choice to a waiting audience across the country.

Decked up in red and gold lehenga-choli by Neeta Lulla and kundan jewellery, Rakhi looked a perfect bride.

Elesh, Manas and Chhitiz too were dressed for the occasion -- in traditional sherwanis and turbans.

In the dramatic finale, she garlanded Elesh -- as the audience clapped on.

The colourful event, held at the Hotel Leela Kampinsky here Sunday, saw a host of celebrities like choreographer Saroj Khan, actors Ravi Kishen and Ram Kapoor, who posed as brothers to the bride, apart from others like Smita Bansal and Sudha Shivpuri in the audience.

I am not saying that the show is GOOD or BAD and that Ms.Rakhi is useful or waste, but i definetly have a problem about people being JUDGEMENTAL, and for those who are please read the below, i am not saying it but the scriptures says it! 1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged.2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. 6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred do not throw your pearls to pigs.

If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.

I have not watched the show but heard a lot about it. I truely feel rakhi has made herself a laughing stock. Nobody decent enough would want to marry her even free of cost. Rakhi I think enough is enough please try to keep up to your dignity if you have any.

It is disgusting to read the comments of some who are predicting Rakhi''s divorce even before she has got married. Think positive people & get some life. After all the struggles she has faced in her life, She deserves good things in life and let''s hope that Elesh is the right man. Yeah, she is a little out-spoken and dramatic but would anyone have known her if she was tight lipped and silent?

On the whole, the show was entertaining and she gave the right reason for turning down the 13 guys out of 16 (most of them seemed to be gold-diggers who dreamt of living off Rakhi Sawant''s wealth). Apart from Elesh, even Chitiz Jain was a good suitor to Rakhi.

Whether dramatic or Outspoken, that is the way Rakhi is and it''s proven that people love the controversial side of Rakhi (just see the TRP of the show :Rakhi Ka Swayamvar) and those who say that they have not watched the show and pass rude comments, are hypocrites. So what if Rakhi Sawant makes a living out of Reality shows - its her life and job. Aren''t there people who make money out of someone''s death (say, undertakers, grave diggers, crying women on rent [rudaalis]etc.). What is important is dignity of work. So readers, pls. stop commenting harshly about anybody''s character and show some respect to this gutsy woman.

I feel sad for some people here, Rakhi ka Swayamvar was a waste of time, what about Sach Ka Samna is that good? and some never ending serials are not waste of time? anyway I really admired Rakhi''s guts though she is a Hindu, see the way she recited the prayer calling out to Jesus, We being Christians would have hesitated to pray in public, really may God bless her.. ohhhh wish P. Mutalik has seen that on TV.. All the best to Rakhi.

Rakhi may marry anybody at any time, it is her personal decision. But NDTV disrespected the Swayamvar concept and Rakhi brought out her family feud (struggle) on to the street which could hurt her hot-celebrity image. Am sure NDTV shot in their foot and could push their ratings further down.

Whether Rakhi''s Swayamwar was bad or good, it entertained the whole nation. Her costume and make up on the final day was extremely fabulous. More than adults, children enjoyed the program. I liked Elesh’s expression of love to Rakhi in broken Hindi that you may be just a girl to the whole world but for me you are the world itself, though it sounded a little dramatic.

Equally good was Elesh’s father’s promise to Rakhi – “I understand that you have been deprived of fatherly love and I assure you that love to you”. But the big question is where are our morality and ethics ? Values? Culture ? Perhaps, I should not talk about all those things these days.

I think was right in voicing what she has gone through in her life. If her parents have done anything wrong then its wrong. This is the problem girls all round the world face. We keep our mouth shut and take whatever comes our way. If her family really cared about her why didn''t they attend the celebrations yesterday?

Rakhi’s swayamwar on the national network was a depiction of how insensitive we have grown. It amounted to trivializing the highest institution, the backbone of human society. Pretentious Rakhi has successfully pulled wool over the eyes of the gullible audience.
