Brahmavar, Oct 24: As per reports, a gang of youngsters used objectionable language against Kota police sub-inspector, Nityananda Gowda, tried to attack him, and obstructed him from discharging his normal duties. This incident happened near Shiroor Moorukai Junction during the early hours of Wednesday October 23.

Brahmavar police, who swung into action, succeeded in arresting Guruprasad (34), a resident of Mandarti Neerujeddu, Dileep, Sunil, and Kiran. They are searching for other accused who have absconded.

Kota SI Nityananda Gowda

Nityananda Gowda was patrolling in the department vehicle when he saw three young men standing under the cover of darkness in front of a shop at Shiroor Moorukai. He also saw that two motor bikes and a car were parked nearby. When he approached the youngsters and questioned them, he did not get satisfactory response, it is said. Nityananda Gowda, who wanted to gather more information about them, made them to stand together, clicked a photograph, took their cell phones and asked them to appear at Kota police station for questioning.

During further verification, he saw that the front door of Shubhalami Bar and Restaurant located nearby was closed, but ten to 12 youngsters were consuming liquor behind the restaurant. The youngsters switched the lights off at the sight of the sub-inspector. When Nityananda Gowda was coming there in his jeep, Guruprasad reportedly scolded him by using words which were derogatorily towards the sub-inspector's mother, and also threatened him.

Eight to ten other men who accompanied Guruprasad blocked the movement of the police jeep, hurled filthy language against the police sub-inspector and tried to attack him with their hands. Nityananda Gowda said in his complaint that all these youngsters were drunk and obstructed him from discharging duties at midnight. He said that they left in their car and motorbikes.

Brahmavar police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
