Kundapur: Police carelessly pulls handle of bike - Rider severely injured

Kundapur, Oct 26: A traffic policeman pulled the handle of the bike and made the rider and bike fall on the road causing grievous injuries to the rider. 

Ullas (27) from Korawady is the injured person. 

The incident happened on NH66 in front of Raghavendra Math, Thekkatte. 

Local people rushed Ullas to the hospital. He has sustained serious injuries to his head caused by the fall. 



As per details available, the police on the highway were conducting vehicle inspections when Ullas was riding the bike. Police asked Ullas to stop the bike in front of the Math but Ullas rode ahead. The annoyed police staff carelessly pulled the handle of the bike making Ullas fall. 

The fall of the bike injured the police staff also as it fell on his leg. He too has been admitted in the hospital. 

People have condemned and protested against the reckless act of police staff. 

Kota police station personnel conducted spot inspection.

    When a Police Officer asks you to stop the Bike you stop. Or show some signal that you are going to stop, by slowing down, nodding your head. I was asked to stop once, I slowed down and when safe, stopped.
    But Police also can not and must not touch the rider or the vehicle. It's Police mistake, he caused harm to the rider who is injured.

    When will police learn that they have no right to touch an individual let alone a vehicle the individual is riding! High time the police learned the law of the land rather than take the law in their hands!
