Bantwal, Oct 28: The body of a man who had gone missing two days back was found from the storm drain passing through Karenki. It is believed that he would have slipped and fallen into the drain which was overflowing.

The deceased was Poovappa Saphalya (59) from Naji in Navoor in Moodunadugodu village. He had left home on October 24 for visiting some shops but had not returned. The family contacted various relatives but failed to find his whereabouts.

On Saturday, his mortal remains were found from Karenki storm drain. Poovappa's son, Mahesh, said he thinks that his father would have slipped and fallen into water.

Bantwal rural police sub-inspector, Prasanna and staff visited the spot. It is suspected that because of strong draught in the drain on account of heavy rain, Poovappa would have been dragged away by water.

The tahsildar said he would take further steps depending on the postmortem report.
