Moodbidri: 'Dhanya' to Bring Out Acting Skills of Dr Mohan Alva

Moodbidri, Aug 8: Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva forayed into cine acting, by donning a role in a Kannada short film, for the first time here on Thursday August 6.
Dr Alva shot his first scene as an actor, in a Kannada short film ‘Dhanya’ on Thursday, at the set erected at Shetty Brothers Group of Concerns-owned Mathrushree Auditorium, here. Dr Alva donned the role of Dr Ashutosh Siddarth in the scene from the said film that focusses on shifting of priorities brought about by the changed scenario.
City-based SKF Group of Firms chairman G Ramakrishna Acharya unveiled the script of ‘Dhanya’ on this occasion.
Former minister Amaranath Shetty and Tulu Academy former member Jayanti S Banagera were the chief guests.
Alvas Naturopathy and Yogic Science Hospital head Dr Padmanabha Shenoy compered the programme.
Meanwhile, despite his busy schedule, Dr Alva completed all his shots at one go, before he could rush to take a flight to Dubai from Bajpe international airport.
Replying to the queries raised by media persons about the dreams he nurses for his native place, Moodbidri, after facing the camera for the first time at the sets, Dr Alva said that the local MLA Abayachandra Jain and local former minister Amaranath Shetty have also significantly contributed for the development of region. The people of the area, who are working in Gulf countries, too have been contributing for the speedy development of region in various ways.
On this occasion, Alva explained about his plans to add a few acres of farm exclusively for growing vegetables and a wide variety of fruits, and also to develop an exclusive garden of Ayurvedic herbs, with the assistance of leading local horticulturist Soans. Further, he wants to pursue earnestly the efforts to preserve the traditional methods of farming at his ancestral paddy fields, that have been handed over generations since the ‘Guthu’ era.
Although Dr Alva had several offers from the Sandalwood in the past, he did not take any interest in acting, due to his commitment to the Foundation. His mother also had discouraged him, when his relatives advised him to take to acting career during his college days. However, at last, the charisma and persona of Dr Alva enabled him to give perfect shots on the sets of ‘Dhanya’, here.
‘Dhanya’, a short film in Kannada, is being produced under the banner, ‘Opera Media’, by young, emerging director from rural background, Prakash Kabettu. The short film is of 90-minute duration, scheduled to be screened by the end of this month.
