Daijiworld Media Network - Belagavi (SP)

Belagavi, Oct 28: Former chief minister of Karnataka, H D Kumaraswamy, said that he will not speak ill of the current government. He was speaking to reporters here during his visit to the district.

"Irrespective of who is in power, the government needs time to handle the situation. Nothing can be addressed overnight. Therefore, I prefer not to speak like the leader of the opposition," he clarified.

He however, termed as false the government's claim about not having enough money and criticized it for not waiving farm loans.

"Leader of the opposition, Siddaramaiah, has issued statement about bypoll. The people have to be given cooperation irrespective of who rules the state. I do not wish for the current government to crash. Considering the results in Maharashtra and Haryana, the possibility of dissolving the assembly and going to polls is almost impossible," he explained.

Kumaraswmay said the always has soft corner about Belagavi and expressed concern about the district becoming victim of natural calamities year after year. He felt that taking into account the extent of devastation this time, the district might take very long to fully recover.

He said the opposition parties have been advising the government to support the flood-hit families. He noted with concern that six to eight lac people are suffering and 40,000 houses have crashed this time. He noted that the government has said that a sum of Rs 800 crore has been transferred to Belagavi deputy commissioner's account.

He however, criticized disqualified Gokak MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi, for not paying price of sugarcane purchased from the farmers.
