Billava Jagruti Balaga Women Wing Organizes `Aatidonji Dina'

Mumbai, Aug 9:
Aatidonji Dina, a Tulunadu traditional and cultural extravaganza celebrated during the peak monsoon season in the coastal district of undivided Dakshina Kannada, in Karnataka, was held here on Saturday August 8.  It was organized by Women wing of metro-based Billava Jagruti Balaga. Billava Jagruti Balaga president Suresh S Poojary inaugurated the programme in the presence of women wing president Sharada Sooru Karkera and vice-president Santoshi S Poojary.



 
Speaking on the occasion, Poojary said that Tulunadu culture is a nature’s gift to humanity which has gained world recognition, since it involves deeply religious and socially relevant attributes. 
 
Women wing president Sharada Karkera said that the traditional life of Tulunadu life was quite different from the present life and cannot be reverted at this point in time. Time and again, it has been proved that traditional food prepared out of nature’s bounty in Tulunadu was of higher nutrition value. No matter where the natives of Tulunadu migrated, they have religiously stuck to their traditional food habits for health benefits. 
 
Balaga former president Sooru C Karkera said that Tulunadu culture has the attributes of uniting people of various religions, thereby promoting peace and communal harmony in society.
 
Balaga vice-president K Bhojaraj said that Tulunadu culture is a hereditary virtue that has to be passed on to the future generation of natives of Tulunadu settled in metro.
 
The members of women wing shared around 24 varieties of special dishes that were prepared by them, on the occasion of Aatidonji Dina, the way it was done at their native Tulunadu. The puja and folk singing also added flavour to their celebrations.
 
Balaga vice-president D K Anchan, chief secretary Harish G Poojary and youth wing president N T Poojary were present at the dais.
 
Women wing honorary chief secretary Kripa Bhojaraj welcomed the gathering.  Joint secretary Sundar Suvarna proposed the vote of thanks.  Secretary Harish G Poojary compered the programme.
