Mangaluru: KRS fields ten candidates for corporation election

Mangaluru, Oct 31: Karnataka Rashtra Samiti (KRS) party, driven with the aim of working against corrupt political system and to engage in clean and honest politics, would be entering the election fray for urban body elections this time. State president of the party, Ravi Krishna Reddy, said that the party has finalized its candidates for ten wards in the city.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday October 30, Reddy said that his party, which has finalized ten corruption-free candidates for the city corporation here, will field as many candidates as possible till Thursday afternoon.

"When the state is facing floods, Congress, BJP and JD(S) are engaging in corruption. Being mean they are known for nepotism. Anti-socials are getting elected as people's representatives from these parties. They secure votes on the basis of money. Our party plans to provide an alternative to these parties with the promise of clean governance," he stated.

He said that his party was inaugurated during August this year and has units in ten districts. "We will start membership campaign soon and will contest all kinds of election henceforth. We will not distribute liquor to get votes," he said.

The party has chosen the following candidates for ten wards: Kabeer Katipalla - Katipalla east, Shanti Nagaraj - Katipalla Krishnapura, Avil R D'Souza - Kunjathbail north, Avinash D'Souza - Kadri Padavu, Harry Praveen - Derebail south, Usha Shetty - Derebail west, Vincent D'Costa - Bijai, Shannon Pinto - Kadri South, Clara Saldanha - Padavu East, and Deviprasad Bajilkeri - Kudroli.

Party's Dakshina Kannada president, Alexander D'Souza, state joint secretary, Raghupati Bhat, and social worker, Jayashree Bhat, were present at the press meet.
