Kundapur, Aug 10 (DHNS): The Coastal Security Police in Malpe have registered two cases against two Somali nationals for illegally straying into the Indian territory and not possessing passports.

The Somali nationals, identified as Abdi Fataah (19) and Mehmood (33), were sighted 20 nautical miles away from Gangolli in Kundapur taluk by fishermen from Kanyakumari on Monday. They were later handed over to the Coastal Security Police.

Mukund Nayak, Inspector, Coastal Security Police, told that the two Somalis were seeking help as their fibre boat had developed a technical problem.

The fishermen contacted their agent Vikram in Malpe, who in turn alerted the Coastal Security Police.

Some groceries, coal, food items, a few Somalian currency notes, vessels and a mobile phone were recovered from the boat. The duo spoke only Somali, while one could write their names as well as the name of a place in English.

They informed they had left Somalia on June 9. The police interrogated the two with the help of a student from Ethiopia who is pursuing studies in Manipal.

Following the interrogation they revealed that they were fishermen from Somalia, and that they had got separated from the mother boat while fishing in a gulf.

Dear all, It is really sad to hear that A BOAT WITH TWO PERSONS REACHES TO GUNGOLLI SHORE WITH OUT ANY SECURITY HURDLES?? Wah ! what a great sincere & honest Coast Guard team we have?? What a shame ? Few months back a boat reached the Gateway of India, Mumbai without any security problem & every one knows the result. This time we are lucky & this two guys are little unlucky that because of failure of their Engine.

I read the few soft hearted peoples comments here but sorry to say looks they have soft heart & bare head. My friends do you think when your engine fails in the middle of the sea & when you need others(Indians) help to survive , still you keep your(If you are carrying any) FIRE ARMS OR WEAPONS WITH YOU?? They must have threw it to the sea before pleading help from our fisherman. If they were separated from their Mother vessel, a) How come they carry groceries & other things with them,do you think the quantity they had was enough for all the members of their fishing team including Mother Vessel. b) Not a single fishing related materials? with them. c) How they reached Gungolli shore so far from Somali shore or from Gulf Waters, from where they got the fuel stock to travel so much distance. When they go for fishing with their Mother vessel, do they carry so much separate fuel for them. I am sure they reached here with the help of any large Ship.

Unfortunately their engine put them in trouble. Thanks for the Almighty''s grace on us. I know we are all very kind hearted but pls. be alert always. Don''t allow to repeat the tragedies. Don''t forget there are rumours of fresh attacks on coastal cities like, Gujarat,Goa, Mangalore & Kerala .

Many families across the world including in Mangalore suffered due to the Somali Pirates. Secondly Somalia is a safe haven for Al-Qaeda. Isnt precaution a human right for Indians or is it granted to certain countries only? Let us get our  loyalty straight . Dont let us get deceived by innocent faces .

No doubt these people should be interogated thoroughly and be treated accordingly. But there shouldn''t be any prejudice before the interrrogation and investigation. They may be really fishermen separated from their mother ship as they say because many a times our fishermen intrude Pakistani Territory by mistake and land in jails for sometime and the same thing happens often with Pakistani Fishermen mostly in Gujarat Sea Waters. So let us trust our Investigating Agencies and wait for the result before coming to any conclusion on our own.

Rajesh and Anil, Do not look everything in terrorism angle. It is reported that their boat developed technical problems and they requested help.If our fishermen had faced same situation somewhere in the high sea, what would have been your advice? Come on man, be humane. If they are innocent, provide all the support they require and send them back to Somalia.

Mr Rajesh/udupi. Law of the land shud apply and no body is above law. But their intent has to be determined by the court and police investigation and anyone in the can can be lost and wayfarers. If you intrude to Somalia by mistake and if you are tried of conspiracy would you feel justice is done to you???

Since these two names suggests that they are from a particular community, you did not lose time to vomit communual venom as usual. Stop it. Secondly if they are Pak or BD citizens, I would definitely agree with your contentions and they must rot in prisons as our innocent citizens are rotting in their jails. Tit for tat.

This is ridiculous, just see how easy it is for the terrorist''s to come in.If people can come from Somalia in a small boat just imagine how far is Pakistan and Afghanistan. What coastal security we have got,are we waiting for another attack like Mumbai attacks.what a shame about our security system.

Where are the coastal guards? This is unacceptable!! How can they so easily sail into our shores without being detected by our guards? Somalia is the new hub for terrorism and piracy. This is scary. Police should immediately investigate to see if there is any local connection to Somalia. I know - it''s hard to admit - but coastal Karnataka has some terrorist cells for sure.
