Mangaluru: ‘Anuvarthi’ two-day national conference inaugurated at SDM College

Mangaluru, Nov 1: The inauguration of ‘Anuvarthi’, a two-day national conference jointly organized by Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Southern India Regional Council, Chennai and SDM College of Business Management and Post Graduate Centre for Management Studies and Research, was held at SDM College auditorium on Friday, November 1.

Chief guest Walter Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld Media Group, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. CS Nagendra Rao, Cenral Council Member, ICSI, CS S Kannan, vice chairman, Southern India Regional Council, ICSI, were the guests of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Walter Nandalike said, “A good idea is very important for every individual for doing his own business or to become an entrepreneur. Being a poor student in both finance and academics and without any knowledge of computer, I completed my graduation. After that I got a normal job in gulf as others. But an idea of usage of internet made my life. Today, I own five companies and I am successful. At the initial stage of my business, I did not have any idea of service and other company laws. But, day by day I learnt everything. So never give excuses for achieving anything in your life.

“Today, you youngsters have got a golden opportunity because of the association ICSI. By this, you came to know what GST is, what is service tax and other taxation laws which are known in the corporate world. Secretaries of company are the masters. They know everything about firms and its laws. Today, you the delegates, are really lucky because you are going to listen to the masters. It will help you to gain extra knowledge. I thank the office bearers of ICSI for the opportunity and wish all success for the event,” he said.

In his speech, CS Nagendra Rao said, “I appreciate the organizers for taking a lead to discuss something beyond Companies’ Act so that you will find all other professional things and learn something new. Along the following of ethics of business, we have a motto which teaches us to follow the rules and abide law. Our profession is not only based on calculation of profit or work as per Company Act, but also we have the responsibility to check all other laws and do close follow up regarding the same. At the end of the curriculum, we give opportunity to students to learn additional things and practices which are very necessary for a firm or business unit. I am sure, the students of SDM College will get a more insight through various speakers of the seminar. I wish success for the event and hope it will be a great experience for the delegates.”

Later Walter Nandalike was felicitated by ICSI Mangaluru Chapter.

CS Chethan Nayak, chairman, ICSI Mangaluru Chapter, Dr Seema S Shenoy, director, SDM PG Centre, conference co-ordinator Dr Prameela S Shetty, student co-ordinators Noor Jahan and Shridhar D C were present on the dais.

Sharath Bangera, chief manager-Finance, MRPL, will be the chief guest for the valedictory programme.
