Mangaluru, Nov 4: ‘Flair 2019’, a diocesan level talents exposition event with the tag line ‘Fragrance of Talents,’ was organized by the YCS/YSM (Young Catholic Students) of Mangaluru diocese for all the 124 YCS units in the diocese on Sunday, November 3, at St Agnes College Campus.
The event began with the inauguration ceremony at 9.15 am. The programme was presided over by Vicar General of the diocese Msgr Maxim Noronha. The guests of honour were Wencita Dias Angelore (Miss Teen Karnataka 2019), Velita Lobo Kulshekar (Winner MTG Daijiworld), Niki Pinto Valencia (Top 12- Dance Plus 3), Shwetha Vas and Merwyn Pinto Kulshekar (Winners - Naas Nara Naas Nari Daijiworld) and Leon Saldanha Bendur (President ICYM Mangaluru). Being the youth year in the diocese, the youth icons were chosen as guests of honour and felicitated.
As a special attraction to the whole event popular film actor from Kannada and Tulu film industry, youth icon, Rock Star Roopesh Shetty was the chief guest for the valedictory ceremony in the evening. He was felicitated on the occasion. He gave away prizes to the winners and addressed the youth gathered.
Diocesan director Fr Rupesh Madtha, diocesan president Sooraj Noronha Siddakatte, diocesan secretary Carol Santhumayor Bejai, diocesan animator Prajwal Sequeira Derebail, diocesan coordinator Mervin Vas Ferar and the diocesan YCS central council members were on the dais. Samantha Saldanha and Vikshitha D’Souza compered the programme.
Seven competitions were held on the day. Thematic Group Dance, Konkani Group Singing, Bible Dumb Charades, T Shirt Painting, Photography, Minute to Win It and Match Stick Art. There were best three prizes in each event and also overall champions and runner up prizes.
Around 1,000 youth, parents, priests and nuns, animators, donors witnessed the mega cultural event. Lanwin Lobo Urwa with Nevin D’Cunha coordinated the competitions. The whole event was organized in order to promote talents and spirit of competition among the youth.
