Mangalore: City Unit of Prison Ministry celebrates Independence Day at Sub-Jail

Mangalore, Aug 14: The city unit of Prison Ministry of India organized Independence Day celebrations with the inmates of the local sub-jail, here on Friday August 14 morning.

The programme was presided over by Sr Jacinta, principal of St Raymond’s High School, Vamanjoor, near here, who also happens to be a member of the District Prison Inspection Committee.



Stany D’Souza gave a brief note of the activities undertaken by the city unit of Prison Ministry of India. 

Vamanjoor St Raymond’s High School teacher Sridhar Jain was the chief guest of the occasion. Bendore St Sebastian’s assistant parish priest Fr Vincent Lobo was the guest of honour.

On this occasion, the students of Raymond’s High School staged a mini-play, mimicry and a few dances, which enthralled the inmates of the sub-jail.

The students of St Raymond’s High School sang the prayer hymn and staged butterfly Dance at the venue.  Fr Walter D’Souza of Prison Ministry of India’s city unit welcomed the gathering.  Cyril Fernandes proposed vote of thanks.

    There are lot prisoners in the jail facing trials. But hardly few people or Organisation like Prison Ministry visits them and entertain them on the eve of our country''s Independence day. A big thanks to Mangalore City Prison Ministry committee members & the organisers.
