Devadiga Sangh Felicitates Meritorious Students

Mumbai, Aug 17:
The metro-based Devadiga Sangh organized an annual programme to distributie scholarships and talent awards at Devadiga Centre, Dadar, here on Saturday August 15 afternoon.
 
Ratnakar A Bangera, deputy director of Staff Selection Board - western region, union ministry of personnel public grievances and pension, was the chief guest. Dinakar Attavar, former chief executive office of Galadari Group, Dubai was the guest of honour. Sangh president K K Mohandas presided.


Speaking on the occasion, Ratnakar A Bangera said that it was in the past that the meritorious students used to excel in studies and secure better future whereas in today’s changed circumstances, the talented students within the community find it difficult to pursue their field of interest owing to financial constraints. Hence, there is a need for community organizations to extend financial assistance to assist them in their endeavour, he urged.
 
Mohandas said that the higher education is beyond the reach of students from economically backward community and hence awarding scholarships to talented students indeed secures them a bright future, he said.

Dinakar Attavar said that education can mould the personality of an individual while the degrees and laurels cannot serve as yardsticks for service.
 
Rohan P K Davangere, first Devadiga to pass Indian Civil Services examinations and Nikhil K Shetty, topper of SSLC Kannada medium examinations, were honoured with mementoes during the programme. Shana Acchanna Devadiga (BE), chartered accountant Rakesh Devadiga and Nasik Devadiga Sangh president Prakash Acchanna were also felicitated.
 
Sangh former president Gopal Moily, vice-president Vasu S Devadiga, joint secretary Sundar C Moily, joint treasurer Vishwanath B Devadiga and Padmanabha A Devadiga among others were present. Education committee president Shyam Ramadi welcomed the gathering and Krishna N Sherigar proposed vote of thanks.  Joint secretary Sundar C Moily compered the programme.
