Chikkamagaluru, Nov 18: In a unique and rather strange happening, a dog is accompanying the Sabrimala devotees from a distance of 480 kilometers.

Six Sabrimala devotees, under the leadership of Rajesh Guruswamy, a resident of Todar village of Moodbidri taluk of Dakshina Kannada district have started barefoot walk from Tirupati Tirumala on October 31. A dog which got into the group is continuously following them. Now the team and the dog reached Kottigehara in the district of Chikkamagaluru on Sunday, November 17, which is a good 480 kilometers from where they started on October 31.

The Sabrimala pilgrims, who are stunned by the devotion the canine has on Lord Ayyappa, have decided to take the dog along with them to temple of Lord Ayyappa.

The dog had received some injuries to its legs due to continuous walking. It was taken to a vet by the devotees for treatment.

Speaking about the strange phenomenon, the Lord Ayyappa devotees said, "We do this barefoot march every year during this season. However, this year the experience is unique because of the dog. We did not notice the dog at first. But we later observed that it was following us. We are happy to see its devotion."

Somewhere read that dogs are the most hated animals by the devil and the demons because they are the closest and most helpful animal to mankind.

These men were on Shabarimal pilgrimage and the follows them covering 480 kms. !
It's a rare or strange phenomenon and gives reason to assume that some unseen power was behind this strange happening. (Believe it or not)
“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself.”
Decades back I had a dog (bitch) in Mangalore and that would sense my coming home (in the night) and would come forward to receive me in advance. (wagging its tail & falling on my feet)

In any case no one stays in heaven or hell forever. If your slate of Karma is not clear you will be reborn. If you have nullified all good and bad deeds you will get Moksha.
This is possible due to the virtue of this soul (dog) and due to some of the faults, it may have got the birth of a dog. By this, it is learnt that your virtue is never decayed; in this birth, or in any other birth it helps you in reaching your goal (moksha)

Really a surprise. Dog following the devotees to the temple. Who knows what is in its mind. We human beings are not in sync with nature but animals are close to nature and may be close to God too. May God bless the devotees and the animal.

Dogs love is pure or any other animals (Unlike human beings). Human beings only like you for their own benefit. Any other animals love you just for affection and love shown to them. I have experienced the love of Dogs, Cats, cows, camel...etc......but Never experienced love of human beings (Particularly Relatives) without any personal benefit. Love between friends is something comparable to the love of mute Animals.

Dog is the most trustworthy and honest animal. Just read ,"DOG" in reverse. Dog always protects its owner and forever remains trustworthy.
