Mumbai, Aug 22: `Kalige chakra kanisige kannu tourtime', a travelogue in Kannada by renowned litterateur and sub-editor of Karnataka Malla Kannada daily Srinivas Jokatte was released at Samarasa Bhavana of Karnataka Sangha at Matunga (west) here on Friday August 21.
Litterateur K Satyanarayan after releasing the book said that Srinivas stands as a bridge between the litterateurs of Karnataka and Maharashtra. He is a traveler with undying enthusiasm and infectious curiosity. His unbiased writing style has been his USP, he observed.
Mumbai University Kannada department head and awardee of P Shanthilal Endowment Award-2008, Dr G N Upadhya said that a writer should always be brimming with activities. There is a need to take books to the hands of the readers instead of just making it adorn their libraries or book racks, he said.
Couple, Srinivas Jokatte and Jayalakshmi Srinivas Jokatte, convenor of Abhijit Publications, Upadhya and awardee of Vasudev Bhupal Endowment Award, B S Kurkaal were felicitated on the occasion.
Karnataka Sangh, Mumbai president Manohar M Kori presided over the programme organized by the sangh in association with the publications. Sanat Kumar and Mariappa Natekar introduced the guests. Honorary treasurer B G Nayak was present among others.
Susheela Devadiga rendered prayer, while Eshwar Alevoor introduced the book. Sangh vice-president Bharat Kumar Polipu welcomed the gathering and honorary general secretary Omdas Kannangar compered and delivered the vote of thanks.
