Margoa: Eduardo Faleiro d Eminent Goan

Margoa, Aug 24: Eduardo Faleiro, former minister of state, external affairs has been included in the list of ‘Eminent Goans’ by the Goan Cultural and Social Centre, a premier Goan organization. Faleiro is the only living personality to find place in the list of eminent Goans. The others being late Francisco Luis Gomes, T B Cunha and several freedon fighters who command the respect and love of the Goan community.

Power minister Aleixo Sequeira felicitated Faleiro at a large meeting organized to mark Eminent Goan’s Day at Raia near Margoa. Speaking on the occasion, Sequeira said that Faleiro, a self-made man and respectable politician served Goa with all the possible way during his tenure. It was he who played a prominent role in getting Konkani language included in the VIII Schedule of Indian Constitution.

On the occasion, Goan poet Yusuf A Sheikh described Faleiro as the tallest amongst Goan politicians today.

Faleiro is currently the commissioner for non-resident Indian affairs for the Goa government. He is the chairman of Universal Peace Federation of India. Born on August 30, 1940, Faleiro is a lawyer by profession and was educated both in India and Portugal. He has also held portfolios such as Chemical and Fertilizers, Finance, Ocean Development, Electronics and Parliamentary Affairs.
