Bengaluru, Nov 22: While the Congress succeeded in convincing its rebels not to enter election fray against its official candidates, the BJP partly succeeded in this effort. In spite of personal efforts put by chief minister B S Yediyurappa and other leaders Sharat Bache Gowda, who has entered bypoll from Hoskote assembly constituency as an independent candidate, and Kaviraj Urs, who is contesting in Viayanagara constituency, have remained adamant at not withdrawing their nominations.

In view of this, the BJP has expelled both of them from the primary membership of the party. However, Aras said that if he gets elected, he would like to join the BJP again as he has RSS roots and that he is fighting against the party's policy of accommodating thieves.

Earlier, deputy chief minister Laxman Savadi, succeeded in convincing rebel BJP candidate Guru Dashyal, to withdraw from Athani constituency. Guru who had filed nomination papers on November 18, had disappeared from the constituency. He appeared all of a sudden at the last minute in the company of BJP leaders, and withdrew his nomination as JD(S) official candidate.

BJP failed to convince Ashok Poojari, who is fighting against Ramesh Jarkiholi in Gokak constituency. Ashok has been fielded by the JD(S) after BJP refused to issue ticket.
