Kuwait, Nov 25: Seven Indian nationals were arrested in Kuwait for forging documents and certificates of Indian Embassy. All the arrested persons are from Andhra Pradesh. They are believed to be members of a large forging racket team.

The Kuwaiti Investigation Department arrested the culprits near the embassy premises while they were allegedly attesting the certificates and documents.

The investigation team also found that the culprits were skilled in forging and issuing driving licence. As part of the investigation, the authorities approached one of the culprits at the pretext of attesting a document and making a driving license. While the required service was given after three days, the person was caught red handed. The other six persons from the gang were arrested subsequently.

The investigation team raided the residence of the detainees and found the seal of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs and high resolution printer which is used to forge the certificates and documents being issued by the Embassy.

The culprits, as a team, were working through WhatsApp. Deals were done through WhatsApp voice clips. The seal of the Indian Embassy and the signatures of the officials were scanned in high resolution and kept in check. The Kuwait Foreign Ministry’s seal was also forged. It is estimated that they earned up to 50,000 dinars per month. The investigation team recovered items including cash, gold and luxury watches from their homes.

Kuwaiti authorities have been verifying the documents issued by the racket and traffic department is scrutinizing the licences attested by the embassy for certain period.
