Mangalore, Aug 30: Young Konkani actor-director Nellu Permannur’s fourth play ‘Bolpho’ enthralled theatre buffs at the Town Hall here on Saturday August 29. Manoranjan Mangalore presented the play under the banner of ‘Asal Kalakar’.
The play written by Nellu has been directed by Shawn Rodrigues, the youngest director-actor in Konkani.
The event started around 6.30 pm with a brief stage programme. Fr Stany Lobo, Anjelore parish priest, Eric Ozario, Mandd Sobhann Gurkar, Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief, Daijiworld, and Richard Moras of Konkani Kutam Bahrain, were the guests for the evening.
The play was inaugurated with the guests lighting the lamp. Fr Lobo released the Konkani music album ‘Masti’, produced by Melvyn Furtado.
Fr Lobo, speaking on the occasion, congratulated Nellu and his team on their successful Konkani plays. He appreciated Nellu for his unique concepts and new experiments in Konkani theatre.
‘Bolpho’ is different from Nellu’s three previous plays and concentrates more on comedy. Though it was the first show, the actors had prepared well and displayed their best acting skills.
The play is all set to present many more shows in the coming days and has been booked in Bahrain and Dubai for this November.
Alwyn Vegas, Felix Lasrado, Nellu Permannur, Shawn Rodrigues, Abraham Pashan, Leena Crasta, Dimple Pinto, and Apoline Saldanha, have acted in the play. Nellu donned two different roles and succeeded in transporting the audience to a world of comedy.
