Bengaluru, Nov 30: There is information that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which usually supports BJP in elections, has remained neutral in some of the constituencies where bypoll is being held. It is said that the Sangh Parivar is not happy at certain candidates fielded by BJP and therefore decided to keep out of electioneering.

RSS has no qualms about supporting candidates who were associated with the RSS or BJP in the past like Shivaram Hebbar, candidate fielded in Yellapur constituency, and Anand Singh from Vijayanagara. It believes that several of the candidates will turn out to be a liability for the party in future as their beliefs, policies and principles are different.

RSS however has not totally kept itself away from campaigning. Knowing fully well that the BJP is under compulsion to save the government, RSS has been involved with campaigning in a subtle way in several constituencies.

RSS leaders do not approve of some of the MLAs who have crossed over to the BJP recently after being bitter critics of Hindutva policies for long. It feels that asking its cadres to support those who were bitter critics of right wing, may create a wrong image of the organization in their minds. Therefore, its role is limited to supporting candidates who were either supporting its principles in the past, and those who are soft-mannered, it is learnt.

It is said that the RSS has given the feedback to the BJP that as per its survey, BJP will find it hard to win more than eight seats. It has advised the party to step up its efforts towards winning at least two more. At the same time, it has predicted that the government will not fall as the JD(S) is not in favour of it even though the Congress is hell-bent to engineer the downfall of the government.
