Dr Lalita Rao, former state health minister, was felicitated by her students as part of Teachers’ Day celebrations at her bungalow ‘Kailas’, located opposite J R Mehta Park near Sion Hospital here on Sunday September 6.

 
The members of Gokul Mahila Mandal led by Suman Chiplunkar felicitated the former science lecturer by draping a shawl and presenting her a tray of flowers and fruits along with Rs 10,000 in cash.  Dr Rao donated the cash to BSKB Association, Sion, for the upkeep of Gokula Temple.
 
Dr Rao hails from Inna village, located on the outskirts of Mangalore in Dakshina Kannada district.  She was the state health minister from 1980 to 1985. 
 
Sunanda Upadya, Tara Bala Rao, Chandravati Rao, Nalini Rao, Bhagyavati Rao, and Sahana Poti were present.
