Mangaluru: Incest - Man who raped daughter repeatedly gets life term

Mangaluru, Dec 17: A man who repeatedly raped his minor daughter by threatening her, and fathered a child through her, was awarded life term imprisonment through a judgement delivered on Monday December 16. The second additional sessions court and designated court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act cases pronounced this order on Monday December 16.

This, it is learnt, is the first ever lifer term sentence awarded by a court in the city under POCSO Act.

Kishore Bhayya, a resident of the city, had raped his 13-year-old daughter in 2016 when his wife was in the hospital for delivery. He had posed death threat to his daughter and used her to satiate his sexual urge several times later. After the girl got pregnant and delivered a baby, his wife had complained against Kishore Bhayya in the women's police station here. Inspector Kalavathi, who had investigated the case, had filed charge sheet.

Judge of the court B R Pallavi, who found the accused guilty on December 13, announced the quantum of sentence on Monday. Public prosecutor Venkataramana Swamy, had argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.
