Margao: Goa BJP MLA Gets Into Film Making

Margao, Sep 14: The Muhurat function of  a new Konkani movie titled, ‘Jaagor’, being produced by MLA Damodar Naik under the banner of Shree Dambabale Ghode, was held on Friday September 11 at Devakikrishna temple, Marcela-Goa.

The first Muhurat clap for the shooting of the movie was done by Manoj Srivastav, chief executive officer of ESG. MLA Damodar Naik and MLA Mahadev Naik were present for the Muhurat function.

The movie is expected to be released by November 2009. Shooting for the film will be held in Shiroda, Marcela, Old Goa, Margao, Lotulim and other places of Goa.

The story of this cinema is based on environment, penned by MLA Damodar Naik himself, which will be directed by Sangram Singh Gaikwad.

Dialogues for this cinema have been authored by noted writer N Shivdas. The cinematography is done by Sharmad Pai Raiturkar, while music of the film is being composed by Sidhanath Ulhas Buyao and the lyrics have been written by Damodar Naik himself. Playback for this music is being provided by noted singers Swapnil Bandodkar and Ravindra Sathe.

This is the debut movie of MLA Damodar Naik, and he has cast upcoming artistes in his venture. Naik’s experience of performing in plays during his college days, has helped him to decide on choosing this field. MLA Naik feels that more youths should come in this field to propel Konkani cinema.

Vardhan kamat, Lalan Desai, Anil Raikar, Bansi Khedekart and Anagha Joshi and others will be acting in this cinema.
