Mangaluru: Youth arrested for posting provocative messages on social media

Mangaluru, Dec 31: Cyber-crime police arrested a youth on the evening of Monday, December 30 for posting provocative messages on social media, including WhatsApp and Facebook, instigating public to attack police and create bloodshed.

The arrested youth is identified as Moideen Hafeez, a resident of Pandeshwar in the city.

Giving the details of the crime, committed by the youth, city police commissioner Dr P S Harsha said, "The arrested accused used to send provocative messages on social media asking people to take revenge on the police personnel who were involved in the police firing and lathi-charge that occurred in the city on December 19."

A case in this regard is booked at the cyber-crime police station and further investigation is on.
