Puttur, Sep 27: Over 25 people from villages located near Uppinangady have complained to the local policemen, claiming that they had invested in the construction of a commercial complex near the Uppinangady bus stand. After investing, they did not receive either the dividend or their investment back, they have complained.

These people had planned to hold a protest in front of the commercial complex on Friday afternoon, but the policemen convinced them not to go ahead with their protest programme. Reportedly, four brothers from Uppinangady have fleeced over 25 people to the tune of eight crore rupees, by collecting money from them on 'partnership' basis in the complex.

Abdul Rahiman, Shabbir ahmed, Khalandar and Mohammed Rafiq from Uppinangady have complained to the local policemen that they were promised high dividends through the investment in the construction of 'Royal Complex'. Abdul Rahiman is said to have invested Rs 20 lac while the other three claim that they have invested five lac rupees each. They now have asked the policemen to help them to get their money back.

The brothers in question allegedly ran the investment business on a chain-link basis, promising high returns - Rs 20,000 per month for an investment of one lac rupees, starting after two months of initial investment. Reportedly, some had pooled money by selling or pawning their ornaments, having been lured by high returns offered.

It is learnt, that since the last six months, various people used to come to the accused brothers to demand money. A gang of 50 people from Sajipa village had come to them recently, and had returned after creating a scene in front of the complex. The brothers reportedly, have fled from the place.
