Bahrain: Kasargod District Pravasi Association Celebrate Onam, Eid

Bahrain, Oct 5: The Kasargod District Pravasi Association (KDPA) celebrated the festival of Onam and Eid with cultural events and programmes at Bahrain Kannada Sangha Cultural Hall here recently.   


 

KDPA president Satish Edneer presided. John Ipe, chairman of co-ordination committee of Indian Association was the chief guest. Austin Santosh, president, Kannada Sangha, Doomanna Rai, entertainment secretary of CCIA addressed the gathering.

On the occasion, KDPA Kasaragod District Co-ordinater O P Haneefa was felicitated. The one-day programme ‘Onam and Eid Celebration ended with a traditional Onam Sadhya (Onam feast) served in banana leaves. Several cultural items such as Thiruvathira, Oppana, Mappilla pattu, classical danc, filmi dance and magic show were performed that provided good entertainment to the members at the programme. More than 350 attended the event.

On the day KDPA arranged a blood donation campaign at Salmania Medical Complex to mark Gandhi Jayanti. “We would like to do this blood donation drive every year,” said Satish Edneer. KDPA has been undertaking many charitable activities in India like medical aid to the needy, distribution of uniforms and financial aid to the needy students.
