Mumbai, Oct 12: Vistaar Religare Film Fund in association with Cinergy Pictures unveiled the theatrical trailer of the highly-anticipated film ‘Rann’ on Saturday October 10 at PVR, Juhu.
It was a salute to icon Amitabh Bachchan who has enthralled audiences across the globe over the last four decades, and continues to do so even today.
Director Ram Gopal Varma, producers Madhu Mantena and Sheetal Vinod Talwar, and Amitabh Bachchan, were present on the occasion.
The debut screening of the trailer received a strident applause from the media. The screening was followed by a cake-cutting by Amitabh Bachchan to celebrate two special occasions—his four decades of mesmerizing fans across the globe and his 67th birthday.
As part of a surprise planned by the Rann team for Bachchan, he came face to face with 39 avatars of himself, each one representing a memorable look from his past films. The 40th and last avatar was Bachchan himself, dressed as Vijay Harshvardhan Malik, his character in the film Rann.
Vistaar Religare Film Fund chairperson and managing director Sheetal Vinod Talwar, said, “We are thrilled to be unveiling the theatrical trailer of our film at such a momentous juncture in Bachchan’s career. We are positive that Rann will be extremely well-received by the audiences. We at VRFF are committed to funding quality films and Rann is a fine example of our endeavour.”
Speaking about the movie, co-producer Madhu Mantena said, “It’s a historic day in the annals of Indian cinema – today we celebrate India’s most celebrated icon – Bachchan. He has given us several memorable characters in Indian cinematic history. Today, along with Ramu, he brings us yet another character to define the times we live in.”
Rann is directed by Ram Gopal Varma and stars Ritiesh Deshmukh, Kannada mega-star Sudeep, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Rajat Kapoor, Monish Behl, Neetu Chandra, Gul Panag, Simone Singh, and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi.
The film reunites Bachchan with the maverick filmmaker whose previous collaborations have resulted in the smash hits ‘Sarkar’ and ‘Sarkar Raj’.
