Mangalore: Accident at Panambur - Two Killed, Seven Injured

Mangalore, Oct 12: In an accident that occurred at Panambur near the Beach Cross Road at around midnight on Saturday October 10, two people travelling in a Tempo Trax vehicle that was hit by a lorry, died. Seven others, who were also in the ill-fated tempo, sustained injuries of various degrees.

Workers Akhim Mandal and Moulin Mandal, working for Geo Marine Associates at Hosabettu, lost their life in the tragedy. They were from West Bengal.

The Tempo Trax vehicle was carrying the workers of the factory home, when a lorry carrying gas, hit it from behind near the J B Petrol Bunk. The two workers, who were seated in the rear, sustained critical injuries and breathed their last when they were being transported to the hospital.

The injured have been identified as Sunil Mandal, Pasanjal Mandal, Dataram, Ramcharan Mandal, Gaurav, Roopala Mandal and Ravi Mandal. All of them have been admitted into a private hospital. The driver of the Tempo and other people seated in the front luckily escaped unscathed.
