Bengaluru: Two rupees a litre hike for KMF milk, curd from February 1

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 31: Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has decided to hike prices of milk and curd by two rupees a litre. The hike will be effective from Saturday, February 1.

Even though KMF had approached the government seeking permission to increase price by three rupees a litre, it got permission to hike only two rupees per litre. The price of milk, which stands at Rs 35 a litre will be Rs 37 from tomorrow.

KMF president Balachandra Jarkiholi, who met chief minister, Yediyurappa, had obtained permission for price increase. A decision about the need to hike the prices had recently been taken at a meeting of KMF board of directors.

Out of this hike, one rupee will go to dairy farmers, 40 paise towards insurance of cows being raised by them, 20 paise incentive to employees of Milk Producers Cooperative Societies, and the remaining 40 paise to agents who sell milk. KMF managing director B C Sathish, said that the entire amount of hike is being distributed and KMF does not keep anything for itself.

Currently, milk producers get Rs 24 to 28 per litre based on SNF value. The government pays five rupees as incentive. With the current price hike, farmers will get one rupee per litre more. District level milk unions decide the rate of milk to be paid to farmers. The current price hike has been made after a gap of three years.

District milk unions had demanded for increasing milk prices in view of increased maintenance cost, transportation, etc.

As a sensible citizen, I would request all stop buying milk, curd or any milk products atleast for a week to protest the hike or inflation. Only then KMF or CM will learn a lesson as to what it means by raising the price and putting that burden on day to day commodities or essentials... I request the public join hands for this protest on their own...let them feel a loss...

Why can't these sit infront of their beloved prime minister or cheif minister in protest for fall in economy or inflation??? Where the GST or other taxes unscientifically levied by Modi going to???? Where is storing that tax and GST money and country almost sold by him for commissions going to???
Where is accountability for Thousand crores of Rupees is he hiding and wearing posh jackets worth lakhs as well as for his make ups at this old age to look young???
Any benefit by BJP to ease the poverty? We see only inflation after inflation... BJP Government which came to power through hacking EVM and challenging the secular Govt which was in favour of citizens and their living is looting and bullying by way of Hitlerism and Dictatorship...it's time everyone wake up of their deep sleep and protest or else big calamity is going to strike Indians for sure due majority fight of religious politics...!!!

I am not bothered about any price hike.

As far as our premier chaiwala is taking the country front and implementing the best policies of removal of article 370, mock pulwama attack, introduction of CAA and NRC, I am fine.

Let the economy and price of daily items go skyrocket I do not mind.
