Mangalore: Measures to Rein in Law-breakers – Bars to Close Shutters by 11 pm

Mangalore, Oct 14: Assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Amit Singh has ordered wine shops and bars in the City to down the shutters by 10.00 pm and 11.00 pm, respectively.

The move has been prompted as the bars in the city continued to run their business up to 1.00 am flouting the rules, said ASP Singh. Earlier the wine shops and bars in the city were allowed to function up to 11.30 pm.

Singh further said that functioning of bars and wine shops until late night saw an increase in cases of accidents and other criminal activities. Moreover there were rise in illegal activities as a result of bars functioning until late night. In order to rein in such activities, the move was crucial, he added.
