Mumbai, Oct 20: Goan Tiatr, ‘Vishwas’, the current drama of Prince Jacobs organised by Canara Konkani Association, Borivli Prabodhankar Thackarey hall on Monday October 19 was a unique theatrical experience for art lovers.
The people came rushing to the hall looking for tickets, which reminded the experience of the recent Wilfy Nite in Mangalore. Though the Thackeray Hall has capacity of more than a thousand audience all the seats were booked a few days ago. The late buyers who were in large numbers made way for the lucky early birds and went disappointed.
'Vishwas' is a drama in which Jason Fernandes, the eleven-year-old and son of Prince Jacob played a key role of and did an amazingly good job for the first timer. The story explains how a blind trust may be exploited to damage bonding of the marriage and girls’ innocence. Also it showcased successfully as to how lack of love ruins married life.
The other actors of the play are Prince Jacob, Joe Rose, Diana Fernandes, Annie Quadras, Felina D'Costa, Supremo Hubert Fernandes, Bernard Dias, Regan DSouza, Simon Gonsalves, Jacinta Gracious and Cajitan De Kudtore. The band consisted of Trumpet - Dominic Rodrigues, Saxophone - Roy Menezes, Drums - Xavier Fernandes, Keyboard – Vallon Fernandes, Guitar - Catrich Baptista. Other backstage contributors were Lights - John Fernandes, Stage Setting - Chari and stage managers Joachim and Milton.
The guests of the programme were Raymond Quadros the producer of famous Konkani film "Padri", Br Alphonse Nassumony, the chairman of St Francis Institute of Management and Research Centre, industrialist Maxim Mathias, benefactors Godfrey Quadros and Amruth Coutinho. Master Jason Fernandes, the son of Prince Jacob, comedian Supremo Hubert Fernandes and Prince Jacob were honoured on the occasion.
George D'Souza the president of Canara Konkani Association, Borivli welcomed the gathering. Secretary Charles D'Cunha compered the programme.
