Kuwait: 'Mange Malpodchi' Tulu Play Draws Accolades

Kuwait November 7: ‘United Mangloreans Kuwait (UMK)’ a group of talented artistes under the leadership of Agnel Saldanha organized its debut show at Indian Community Girls High School Hall, Salmiya here on on Friday November 6.
The show comprised melodious songs, foot tapping dances, and a hilarious Tulu drama – ‘Mange Malpodchi’ in aid of ‘SNEHA SADAN’, HIV- AIDS care and support center- Gurpur, Mangalore.
All the audience was given red ribbon with pins to symbolize HIV AIDS awareness. The programme began with video presentation of HIV-AIDS awareness which was prepared by Avil Fernandes. Anchors of the day Doris Veena and Reyan Lobo formally invited the audience both in Konkani and Tulu. The UMK members gathered on the stage with candles and a minute silent was offered for the people suffering from AIDS followed by Konkani song Shetkara by Kevin, Vrinda, Nancy, Nirmala, Agnel, Lionel, Joel, Vincy, Prem and Ronson. The Goan ‘MANDO’ dance by Joel, Nirmala, Agnel, Nancy, Renwick, Samantha, Lionel, Vanita, Vrinda and Prem was foot tapping.
During the felicitation chief guest Fr Melvin was honoured with flower bouquet by Agnel Saldanha. FrMelvin appreciated the efforts of UMK towards a good cause. Pascal Pinto, Sathischandra Shetty and Roque Lewis were honoured with flower bouquet by Fr Melvin.
During his speech, Agnel Saldanha mentioned that UMK is not an association. It is only a group of talented local budding artistes, who came together to help the needy. He also informed that after deducting all the expenses they managed to contribute Rs 2 lac to ‘SNEHA SADAN’ excluding the donation collected from the audience through donation box circulation. The entry for the programme was free. Nancy Pinto proposed the vote of thanks.
After the felicitation, Kevin and Nirmala presented a song ‘Hai hai tuka mog mozo naa’ that explained daily problems between married couples. Filmy dance ‘Hum hai rahi pyaar ke’ by Ronson and Nirmala, Joel and Vrinda, Avil and Nancy, Vincy and Joseline, Joel and Samatha was mind blowing. Official media partner Daijiworld.com was honoured by presenting flower bouquet to local correspondent. The Goan song ‘I AM A CROONER’ by Prem and Nancy was highly appreciated by everyone for its perfect accent and humour. ‘Bollywood fusion dance' by Baby Riya, Suzette, Irisha, Iral, Delma, Renwick, Joel, Samantha, Joseline, Nancy & Nirmala was the last item before drama.
A video presentation prepared by Roque Lewis on ‘SNEHA SADAN’ was presented to the audience. The much awaited drama ‘Mange Malpodchi’ started with a big bang as expected. The team succeeded to tickle the ribs of the audience to its maximum. The artistes Dennis, Agnel, Mary, Purander, Lucy, Manoj, Prem, Avil, Edward, Lionel, Vincy, Lloyd, Victor, Lewnis, Ronson, Jackson and Rocky gave their maximum to fill the life in the characters of drama. The drama was written by Parkala Panduranga Prabhu and directed by Ronald D'Souza, Mulki.
The brain behind music, screenplay, direction and stage setting was Ronald D'Souza Mulky. Background scores were by Suneeth Noronha, Austin and title song was sung by ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore’ fame Vinay Lewis. The choreography for dances were by Nancy and Joel Pinto, make- up by Ajay Ghosh and lights and sound was provided by Illuminations (Anand D’Souza).
When most of the major associations are struggling to organize programmes due to global melting and recession, it is really highly appreciable that some individuals gathering together to help for a good cause with a mind blowing programme to the entire satisfaction of the audience with free entry.
