Udupi, Mar 4: Former IPS office K Annamalai, gave ample evidence of his kind-heartedness again when he came to the rescue of a would-be bride, whose purse was stolen when she was in the queue to have Darshan of Lod Srikrishna. The incident happened on Sunday.

The girl, who is from Sringeri, is scheduled to marry by the end of this month. She had come to the city to pay advance amount for getting some gold ornaments done for her marriage. She had withdrawn Rs 20,000 from the ATM and kept the cash in her purse. On Sunday, some jewellery shops were closed. Therefore, she planned to pay obeisance to Lord Srikrishna before visiting the shops again. When she was standing in the queue someone stole her purse. After she realized that she had lost the money, the girl turned panicky and began to sob uncontrollably. Even after CCTV footage was scrutinized, the pickpocket could not be traced.

Annamalai

The girl had come here with her brother. She did not know what to do. At that time, K Annamalai, who had come to Brahmavar from Bengaluru on some work, had come to Srikrishna Math to have the Darshan of the Lord. He came to know about the unfortunate incident after which the girl explained her predicament to entrepreneur Gurme Suresh Shetty, Govindaraj and others.

Annamalai, whose humanitarian concern and altruism had become evident many a time when he was working in various places including Udupi and Chikkamagaluru immediately went about the task of collecting funds from his friends and people known to him. He collected Rs 25,000 in total and handed over the money so collected along with his own contribution to the girl, which brought back smile on the face of the girl.
