New Delhi, Nov 13: Versatile actor Shekhar Suman says he and his son Adhyayan are more like buddies and that he would like to do a film where they are pitted against each other.
"It becomes very cliche to play father and son on screen. It'll be more interesting if we are pitted against each other as actors and not father and son," Shekhar told IANS.
"However we'll be playing father-and-son in the big-screen adaptation of 'Dekh Bhai Dekh' (hit TV series), where Adhyayan will play the role of Sameer chachu's grown-up son," he explained.
The father-son will also be seen together in two of Shekhar's home productions, for which the actor-turned-politician will wield the megaphone himself.
Talking about their relationship, Shekhar said: "Adhyayan and I are more like friends unlike any other father and son. We share a strong relationship and have a lot of fun together. Off late we've also started having script reading sessions together."
He also says his 21-year-old son looks up to him as his role model.
"It's always better to have a role model in the family. People tease him to look at me and learn and I keep inspiring him as he is a very inspired kid. Whether it was losing weight (Adhyayan was earlier 110 kg), gym and exercises, singing lessons, acting or dancing, I coax him to learn everything," he said.
"These days I am pushing him to learn the guitar, while I am taking some piano lessons," he added.
Adhyayan might not have hit the jackpot despite starring in three films -- "Haal-e-Dil", "Raaz - The Mystery Continues" and "Jashnn: The Music Within" -- but Shekhar gifted him a "BMW 7 series as a gift for his work in 'Jashnn'".
