Bengaluru, Mar 9: With World Health Organisation (WHO) declaring the fast spreading coronavirus (COVID-19) as Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), the Karnataka Public Education Department has asked the primary and high schools to finish exams at the earliest and declare holidays.

Holiday has been already announced to children from nursery to 5th standard students in Bengaluru.

The department has announced exams from 1st to 5th standard to be started on March 11 and completed by March 16. Exams for 6th to 9th standard students are supposed to be completed by March 23. The exams for 10th standard students will he held as per the scheduled timetable.

Students are asked to take precautionary measures and schools are directed to spread awareness during school assembly programmes. Any student having fever, cough, shivering will be given treatment by Health and Family Welfare Department and has to take a holiday.

If students wish to write exams wearing masks, they will be permitted.
