Udupi: Two killed after auto-rickshaw rams into pedestrian, car

Udupi, Mar 12: Two people were killed in an accident which took place Shedigudde near Athrady here, late evening at 9.30 pm on Wednesday, March 11.

The deceased has been identified as Vasanth Nayak (28) and Madhav Shettigar (68).

Vasanth Kumar was driving an auto-rickshaw towards Parkala when he hit Madhav Shettigar, a pedestrian, killing him on the spot. The auto-rickshaw which ran out of control then hit an oncoming Swift car. Vasanth reportedly suffered grievous injuries. He succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.

Hiriyadka police visited the spot, investigated and registered a case.

    Auto rickshaw , slow moving trucks always use fast track on highways and bikes,scooters overtake from any side putting others in danger.

    There is not a single day, without reported deaths, on the highway and byway, of DK district.. Mumbai metropolis, with its bustling road traffic, has a fraction of causalities when compared to the coastal district of Karnataka !!!!

    90% of auto drivers are reckless and senseless. Once on the seat they think that they sitting on a ballistic missile and ready for destruction...so our two wheeler riders. They are mainly competing with our supersonic Private express drivers of coastal districts.
    RIP.
