The valedictory function of ‘Kalasangam-2009’ organized by Mangalore Musical and Cultural Association (MMCA) was held at Geethanjali on Saturday November 21.
 
The function saw the best performances of the 22-day Kalasangam programme of dance, music, fancy dress, skits, and other cultural events.



 
A performance by the senior citizens of the Little Sisters of Poor was one of the highlights.
 
MMCA is a voluntary organization serving music and culture and is celebrating its silver jubilee this year.
 
Fr Joseph Rodrigues, rector, St Aloysius College institutions, Aubrey D’Souza, philanthropist and founder of Aubrey D’Souza Charitable Foundation, Fr Prakash D’Souza, administrator, Fr Muller Homeopathic College, as well as Joe and Betrus Periera were the chief guests who presented awards to the winners.
 
Meanwhile, Aubrey D’Souza was presented the silver jubilee jewel ‘Rathna Award’ and Joe Periera and Betrus Pereira were presented the ‘Kalaposhak Award’.
 
Dr Lydia Lobo introduced the guests and Edolf Lobo conducted the programme.
