Vishwa Tulu Sammelan Committee Convenes Preliminary Meet

Vishwa Tulu Sammelan convening committee vice-president Dharmapal U Devadiga inaugurated the preliminary meeting, held at Bunts Bhavan, located at Kurla (East) here, recently.
 
The meeting was presided over by Bunts Sangh president Aikala Harish Shetty.
 


Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said that Tulu is the mother tongue of residents of coastal district, while many of them neglected their mother tongue as they progressed in their trades and professions. Bunts community has nurtured the native Tulunadu culture since many centuries along with natives. Tulu should be spoken in every household of Tulu natives, settled across the metro and country. All Tulu natives should support for inclusion of Tulu in the eighth schedule of Indian Constitution. Vishwa Tulu Sammelan, which will be held during second week of December should focus on the objective of getting recognition to Tulu by union government, he said.
 
Devadiga said that all Tulu natives, regardless of rich and poor, should work for the progress of their mother tongue. The westerners are taking interest in exploring the richness of Tulu, which should inspire all Tulu natives to strive for the progress of their mother tongue, Tulu, he said.   
 
Bunts Sangh vice-president chartered accountant Shankar B Shetty, honorary chief secretary V K Shetty, honorary treasurer Prabhakar L Shetty, joint secretary Harish Vasu Shetty, education and social welfare committee president Karnire Vishwanath Shetty, Matrabhoomi Co-operative Credit Society chairman Shivaram G Shetty and Women wing executive president Asha M Hegde were present on the dais.
 
Billava Association vice-president L V Amin, Shafi Welfare Association president lawyer B Mohiuddin Mundkoor, Devadiga Sangh president K K Mohandas, Maharastra Konkan Association president Walter D’Souza Jerimeri, Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti past president Vishwanath U Mada, Bhandary Seva Sangh president Balakrishna P Bhandary, Ganiga Samaj Seva Sangh president Jagannath M Ganiga and Konkani Basha Mandal – Maharashtra joint treasurer Leo Fernandes among otheres were present.
