Bal Thackeray's Bahu Smita Set to Join Congress

Mumbai, Nov 28 (PTI): Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's daughter-in-law Smita Thackeray may soon join Congress, a Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson said today.

"Smita Thackeray is on way to joining the Congress," MPCC spokesperson and former minister Hussain Dalwai said.

Asked when would Smita, a film producer and social worker, join Congress, Dalwai said, "I cannot tell exactly when she would join but she is on way to joining the party".

48-year-old Smita is reportedly peeved at being "marginalised" in the Thackeray household, and feels that the Sena is being "unfair" to Maharashtrians with its parochial politics.

The MPCC spokesperson said, "The fact that Smita is on way to Congress shows that after Bal Thackeray there is no one in Sena whose leadership people trust."

A member of Thackeray joining Congress is a significant development, he said.

"Anyone who is ready to abide by the ideology of the party and has faith in leadership of Sonia Gandhi is welcome in the party," Dalwai added.

In New Delhi, AICC spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said, "If Maharashtra Congress agrees, then there is no problem in her (Smita) joining the Congress."

"It is good that she has realised that Congress and its leadership are doing a good job for the nation and welfare and uplift of the common man," he added.

When the ship is sinking, the first deserters are rats-Rane Started it,Raj continued it, now the Bahu will finalise it. Good Riddance for the State from divisive regional chaunistic, communal politics of Shiv Sena. They can heave a sigh of relief once Balsaheb fades into oblivion. Raj should learn a lesson from this.

I read in  today's newspaper that she is sidelined by Thakeray's. If his own 'BAHU' is sidelined then what else he can do for fellow Maharashtrians??? And also If Daughetr-in-law not getting due place in her husband's  house, then outsiders how will get place in Maharashtra
