Udupi: Eviction Drive at Malpe Port

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Nov 28: Works relating to the third phase of Malpe fishing port are in progress. However, since the last several years, works could not be executed in some portions of the port, as an individual, who had installed a slipway for pulling the boats onto the shore at the site, had filed a suit against his eviction. For the port works to continue, the space had to be handed over to the fisheries department.

As the court decided the matter against the petitioner recently, the department swung into action with the help of a back hoe. Backed by security personnel, it demolished certain structures standing on the site and removed various things found there, on Saturday November 28.
